Happy Tuesday, friends!
Last week, we got to host sweet friends from all over the country right here in the desert! We attended an awesome small business conference together and spent the rest of the time just spending quality time together. Here are the quick-hit highlights:
1. We got to see Dave Ramsey speak three times in a row! #lifegoals #accomplished We’ll have more on what Dave said later because it really impacted us in such a profound way that it deserves its own blog post. He’s already had a #demossandwich, but you know we weren’t going to miss the opportunity to have another photo together. You’ll see it below!
2. We had a group dinner on the first night on Melissa Jill’s newly redecorated Parenthood-esque patio. True to southwest form, she served carnitas and some of the most delicious corn salsa we’ve ever had. In our life.
3. The biggest non-disappointment? The convention center food, believe it or not. We were pretty impressed!
4. The longest we walked in downtown Phoenix? About a mile. To find Katelyn a Diet Coke. Thank goodness Potbelly’s was open!
5. Have you ever played Fish Bowl? It’s one of our favorite group games, so we busted it out one night (under the string lights of the patio!) and laughed until our abs hurt. Mostly watching people act out Donald Trump and then Elsa from Frozen in the same turn.
6. We didn’t have dessert planned that night, but Melissa pulled some frozen cookies out of the freezer and Matt broke apart a Canadian chocolate bar for everyone to share.
7. Everything that Melissa planned (like the welcome dinner with carnitas) was really nice. Our stuff? A little more ghetto. Like the night we crowded into our condo with Chipotle and Costco ready-to-drink margarita mix and watched the debate. The best part? Explaining American politics to Canadians, then challenging them to name all fifty states.
8. They did. With a little help.
9. The last day was probably the best day, though. The conference was over and it was Carissa’s birthday, so we had everyone over to lay by the pool and then took the whole crew to one of our favorite restaurants, Proof at The Four Seasons in Scottsdale, for lunch with one of the prettiest views in Arizona.
10. We went model-homing with Katelyn, Michael, and Melissa in one of the fanciest neighborhoods in the city, and had a blast daydreaming together. The funniest part? Michael reminded us of an Italian tour guide we had on our Europe trip a few summers ago, who every time she saw something she couldn’t afford, she’d remark, “I don’t like it!” We said that a lot at the model homes. Then came up with crazy scenarios: But if you take out a mortgage on the kitchen and we pay for the living room, then we just need eight other people… Dream the dream, right?
Bonus: We finished off the trip with a double-date with Katelyn and Michael at El Chorro, one of our favorite venues to shoot at — even though we’d never been for dinner before! — and then took them to the airport. Humming Adele the. entire. way.
We sure miss having everyone here, but we’re thankful for this little corner of the world we call home — and we’re grateful to always be in it together.
