The sun had all but set. The bright oranges and pinks that moments prior permeated the sky evaporated into the air, enveloped by the deep blues of twilight. The white draping at the altar that swaddled the chuppah like a baby in a blanket swayed with the evening breeze. The candles flickered. The stars twinkled. Just like the bright beads in her proud father’s eyes. The doors swung open and, like royalty, she stepped onto the lawn. It was reminiscent of a fairytale. And there she stood. His daughter. A stunning image of her mother who couldn’t be there but certainly was. A perfect reflection of his heart. She took her first steps. One. Then the other. He strode from the front of the aisle to the middle to greet her for the last time as his little girl. He looked so proud. Nostalgic and optimistic at the same time, if that’s even possible. Maybe that’s because, as she took his hand and looped her arm through his, and they started their walk through a sea of teary-eyed guests, they both looked up, and saw the face of a man waiting with her dad’s same class and kindness, standing with his parents, waiting to receive her as his wife. It was one of those surreal moments in life. An everything’s-right-with-the-world one. The ethereal kind. The unforgettable type.

Pam and David, where do we even begin? We don’t even live in the same state — in the same time zone — and we’ve only seen each other in person three times, but, over the past year, we’ve become friends. Good ones. To some, that might seem difficult to understand, but we understood from the first time we Skyped. You smiled. You made us laugh. There was a realness, an openness, a sincerity and an authenticity to you both that drew us in and kept us there. That keeps us there. At your wedding, the word everyone used to describe you was hospitable. How right they were. How right they are. Because, that first night we talked, from thousands of miles away through a fuzzy connection and pixilated screen, it was clear: we felt right at home. Thank you both, from the bottom of our heart, for welcoming us into your life and making us feel like family not just for the day, but throughout this entire experience. If it’s okay with you, we’d like to keep that going. After all, Chicago’s only a few hours away, and we hear it’s warm in Phoenix in the winter.

Here are a few of our favorite highlights from your beautiful Four Seasons Scottsdale wedding day. We hope you love them even half as much as we do, because we love them so much that that would be more than enough. We love you both. To Chicago and back.
