Happy Thursday, friends!
We’ll never, ever forget the first time we met Sarah and Kurt in person. They’d flown in from Baltimore (where she works at Johns Hopkins) for their engagement session at the Desert Botanical Garden. Coming from so far, they wanted to showcase the desert for their families who live in cold parts of the country, to give them something to look forward to when it started to chill on the East Coast. From the moment we met them both, we fell in love with their sweet smiles and gentle demeanors. They’re both truly two of the kindest people we’ve ever had the pleasure of serving. What’s more? The family and friends who made the 2,000 plus mile trip from the changing, falling leaves of Maryland to the warmth of the desert were as warm and welcoming to us, as locals, as the new place they found themselves in — where, we might add, they fit right in. Everywhere we turned on the wedding day, someone was stopping us, talking with us, engaging with us, telling us something about Sarah and Kurt, asking us questions about our desert home, or just saying plain, old-fashioned nice things and courtesies to us. It was a small and intimate wedding, and every single guest made us, the photographers, feel like family.
Sarah and Kurt, it’s been said that you’re the average of the people you spend the most time with, and, after spending all day with the people closest to you in the world, it’s no wonder you turned out so lovely in every possible way. It’s not surprising that, from the minute we met you for your engagement session to the moment we said goodnight at your wedding reception, we felt one hundred percent comfortable and loved. It’s amazing, when you think about it, that on the biggest day of your life, you had time to be so concerned with the happiness of everyone around you; but that’s just who you are, so you probably didn’t even have to think about it at all. (The buffalo chicken skewers were incredible, by the way, so thank you for feeding Jordan during family formals. He’s still talking about it!)
Thank you, both of you, from the bottom of our heart, for letting us witness such a beautiful occasion, be there by your side throughout all the most important moments, and persevere your family’s memories and legacies for years and years to come. It was an honor and pleasure, and we feel privileged to call you both friends. We hope you love these photos as much as we do!
