Happy Friday, friends!
When we were elementary school teachers, Friday afternoons were hard. The kids were tired. We were tired. Everyone was tired. All the tests had been completed, the homework had been turned in and everyone knew the weekend was only an hour away. It felt so close, and yet so far! Can you relate?!
To have something to look forward to at the end of every week, Jordan (a.k.a. Mr. Demos), used to take his fifth graders outside for an hour of what he called “Friday Fun.” It was the perfect escape after a long week of hard work. It’s been a few years since then — a few years too long, if you ask us! — so, starting today, Mr. and Mrs. Demos are reinstating Friday Fun (blog style!) and sharing the smallest, littlest things that may or may not matter at all, but nonetheless colored and flavored our week! An escape for just a few minutes. It’s kind of like afternoon recess! So here we go!
Friday Fun Facts:
— Amy managed to burn leftover pizza and Chinese takeout BLACK AS NIGHT while reheating them this week. It reminded us of the time she burned a quesadilla. She’s officially banned from the kitchen for a few weeks ever.
— We have so much dirty laundry that’s piled up in our master bathroom from last week’s trip that our hamper is overflowing. The pile is about waist high now. But, we’re going to confess to you that instead of washing it, we just closed the bathroom door. Boom. Problem solved! Until someone needs to use the bathroom…
— We did an engagement session in the desert this week. Jordan sat his bag on the ground and didn’t realize that a jumping cholla affixed itself to the bottom of his bag while we were shooting. So, when he picked it back up again… Let’s just say he basically squeezed a cactus as hard as he could thinking it was the bottom of his bag. The desert life struggle is real, ya’ll!
— We both felt under the weather on Thursday, so we laid in bed with the cats and watched the finale of Project Runway on Hulu. We’re both huge fans of the show, but especially hug fans of Tim Gunn. Amy’s “if you could have dinner with one person…” person and a major #demossandwich wish list goal. Make it work!
— In the Phoenix airport, we stopped for sandwiches at Wildflower Bread Co. The manager gave us an over-sized sea salt chocolate chip cookie (our favorite!) for FREE because when the man behind the counter told us they ran out of the ingredients chicken salad sandwich, we smiled and told him, “It’s all good! We can order something else!” Apparently not everyone takes it so well normally. #firstworldproblems The lesson here? Be kind. It feels good. And you might even get a cookie!
— Our stewardess on the flight from Phoenix to Chicago was named Bonnie. She refilled Jordan’s coffee (always black, no cream, no sugar) without him even asking. Multiple times. He got a lot of work done. It’s safe to say he’s requesting her for future flights… and so is Amy.
— We took a mini-worksop with a professional public speaking coach who’s worked with Taylor Swift’s (click here to read what T. Swift taught us about life) record label. Umm… yeah. Not gonna lie, guys, when we had to do a practice run in front of him and have it recorded to review later, Amy’s body literally did a 8.9 on the Richter Scale and experienced aftershocks for hours after. Jordan loved it. Not surprisingly.
— Jordan has successfully trained the cats how to “sit.” For real.
