If you’re as in love with fall colors as much as we are right now, then prepare to be overwhelmed by gorgeous fall-lovin’ goodness! Even though our leaves don’t change here, Jodi & Rich brought fall to the desert at The Royal Palms, and we were head over heels for the deep, rich colors and swoon-worthy floral design thanks to our friends at Butterfly Petals. Their hanging floral installation over the head table is one of our favorite designs to date, and there couldn’t be a sweeter couple to sit underneath it.
Jodi and Rich are two of the kindest, most joyful people we’ve ever — ever — met. When a dear friend from Phoenix referred this Dallas couple to us, we immediately arranged a Skype double-date. We dialed them up online and saw them only for a brief moment before technical difficulties interrupted us and we couldn’t see them anymore. We could hear them, but that was it. After three attempts to get their faces back on our screen, we all decided that it probably wasn’t worth the fuss. So, for the next 30 minutes, Jodi and Rich could see us, but we could only hear them. Their sweet, southern, Texas accents came through loud and clear through the fiber optic cables that connected us over a thousand miles away, and one thing became crystal clear right away: these were happy people, the type who make everyone around them feel better about themselves — they certainly did for us — because even though we couldn’t see their smiles, we knew they were there. We could just feel them.
And when we met Jodi and Rich in person for the first time earlier this month for their engagement session in Dallas (we were on a teaching swing through the Lone Star State with Showit), their bright faces confirmed everything we’d suspected… and more. The Texas sunset that evening was bigger and better than anything we’d seen in awhile, and these two soaked up every minute of it in each other’s arms.
Jodi and Rich, we’re so thankful God connected us to you. In our short time together, we felt like we got a tangible reminder of Dale Carnegie’s best principles from you through osmosis: smile, be kind, be interested in others. You both embody all three so well, which probably explains why there were so many wet eyes when you said your vows. We’re so happy for you both and this next chapter of your life together.
