We’re so excited to share our very first wedding of the season with you today! We’ve got some incredible weddings of couples we absolutely love coming down the pipes in the next few months, and what better way to kick off the start of our new season than with this classic, timeless affair at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess?
We met Jillian and Mark through a mutual friend, and these two (and their entire family) are some of the kindest, sweetest people we’ve ever met. They’re Canadian, but live in our hometown of Scottsdale part-time. In our neighborhood, in fact. The first time we met, we explained to them our love affair with our neighbors to the north and how we’ve never — ever — had anything but the best experiences with Canadians — and, believe us, there are a lot of them where we live, so we’ve got a pretty large sample size! But after spending an entire weekend with over a hundred of the bride and groom’s family and friends from north of the 49th parallel, we fell in love with more than just their accents and big, bright smiles. We fell in love with their hearts.
We heard recently that life’s about getting the little things right as much as the big ones, and this couple and their loved ones did. Everything about the event, from start to finish, down to the smallest details, screamed classic, timeless, and elegant. Every detail, including the tiny pops of navy blue flowers imported all the way from Scandinavia to compliment the bridesmaids’ dresses to the gorgeous floral ceremony arch, to the fireworks at the end of the night, made this an event to remember. But what struck us more than that were the acts of kindness, small and large, that we witnessed throughout the day, from the way the bride and groom treated everyone (from the staff up) like they were the most important people in the room, to over an hour of toasts from the guests confirming that that’s how these two always are. But actions speak louder than words, right? Because even if the guests hadn’t spoken one word, their tears of admiration for Jillian and Mark would’ve said it all: these two live by The Golden Rule, which is, no doubt, why they shine.
Jillian and Mark, thank you for welcoming us into your life and giving us the chance to see so much of who we want to be in you. Here are a few highlights from your wedding day that we just couldn’t wait for you to see.
