It’s here! Behind the Scenes 2014! One of our favorite posts of the year! It’s the post where we give you an all-access backstage pass to life on the job. What it looks like from the other side of the lens. You know, the photos behind the photos. Compiling these images is one of our favorite ways to look back on the last year, and when we look through 2014’s photos, we can’t help but feel so incredibly thankful for this job. The year of 2014 was our first full calendar year as full time wedding photographers, and when we stop to reflect on this past year, our hearts are filled with an overwhelming amount of gratitude. When we got married, we never imagined that we would be running a photography business together, but God has always had way better plans than us. This job has challenged us, refined us, pushed us to our limits and strengthened us in ways we never expected. But even more importantly, this job has brought us some of our most valued friendships, incredible life experiences and to places we never dreamed of. We are so thankful for each and every person who has trusted us to preserve their most cherished memories and become honorary members of their family. So this post is dedicated to all of our clients, who put up with all our crazy antics, trust us when we suggest something off-the-wall and still love us, even when we don’t look nearly half as glamorous as them!
Let’s start with the many faces of a test shot.
When it comes to directing bridal parties, Amy’s spontaneous jazz hands never fail to make an appearance.
When she’s not directing air traffic control, that is.
Or giving bouquet-holding lessons.
Or wearing THAT SAME DRESS ALL THE TIME.
Jordan Demos: Proving chivalry is not dead.
He’s also the one there for our grooms in the “This is it, man!” moment right before the first look, one of our favorite parts of the entire day. We gotta say, Amy’s has her stand-in bride role down for first look test-shots.
Not only is Jordan a total gentleman to our brides, he also knows just how to hang a dress, drape a veil and carry the details like a boss.
Not to mention, he’s one cute pack mule.
The one thing he never holds? Amy’s lens hood. She’s rather wear it. As a bracelet. On her shoulder.
Speaking of Amy’s fashion choices, let’s talk about how she somehow finds a way to match our clients!
Or how many times she wore these pink pants.
And as an extra bonus, the pink pants with her lens hood bracelet and her ghetto fab stool.
Oh, you didn’t know about the stool?
It’s one of her favorite short girl hacks. She may be short, but she is mighty. She’ll do just about anything for some extra height.
On second thought, maybe she got that from Jordan.
Which bring us to a segment we like to call “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Photographer.”
While we may look slightly ridiculous, we do it all for our clients, who we adore with all our hearts.
Because they are the ones who add a #demossandwich to their formal portrait shot list
And they are the ones who put up with our shenanigans and have the best sense of humor
They are the ones who trust us completely even when we see something that they don’t see
The ones who know how to have a great time
In rain…
With different and amazing creative teams by our side every week
Who go above and beyond, in times when a veil won’t fasten or a king-size mattress is casting a shadow on the bride.
We’re ready to take on any challenge…
Along the water ways of Venice, the beaches of Florida, the hills of Ireland, the fields of Tennessee, the desert of the southwest, the streets of New York and everywhere in between…
The long days and sore bodies, the lost voices and the ridiculous hours? It’s all worth it. Because nothing beats this feeling.
We are so, so blessed. 2014, what an amazing year. Feeling a little nostalgic? Us too! You can catch up on our other 2014 review posts here:
