Oh, friends, there’s so much goodness to talk about in this blog post that we don’t even know where to start! Like the fact that we got rare permission to photograph Lauren and Spencer’s engagement session at the historic Arizona Biltmore hotel in Phoenix, featuring architecture designed by the world renowned Frank Lloyd Wright. If that weren’t enough, the grounds also include a garden. And a art-deco rooftop. And a life-size chess board. A life-size chess board! Or the fact that Lauren and Spencer are two of the sharpest dressed people in town. Think red Kate Spade dress with a big, beautiful bow on the back and matching red-soled Louboutins. We thought we’d died and gone to photographer heaven. We definitely did a happy dance or two… or three… or more! Amy danced on beat. Jordan didn’t. But do you know what we loved most about this session, friends? That Lauren and Spencer are two of the most beautiful people we’ve ever met inside and out. Ever. From the moment we sat down with them for coffee to talk about their wedding, we just knew it. We could feel it. We could see it. There’s a genuine warmth and kindness there that’s uncommon. They laugh with each other constantly, too, and their smiles are infectious. And if they didn’t have a place in our hearts already, these two are so incredibly thoughtful. Lauren is from Seattle, and when they visited a few weeks ago, they went to the Public Market and brought back a little surprise for Jordan, a box of chocolate-covered Chukar Cherries, his favorite treat! We were just blown away that they thought of us on their trip!
We love their love story, too. These two just belong together, and you can feel it the moment you meet them. Spencer knew it too, and when he decided to pop the question, he made sure it was special. On one of their vacations, Spencer arranged a private dinner on the beach overlooking the water at sunset. Just the two of them and a wait staff of accomplices. And after he got down on one knee and she said yes, he arranged for their families to be there, so that they could all celebrate together. They wouldn’t have had it any other way. Lauren and Spencer, we feel so honored and excited that we get the privilege of shooting your wedding next fall, and even more so that we get to call you friends. You two photographed like a dream and we can’t wait to see you again! We hope you love these images as much as we do! Big hugs and lots of love!
Also, if you liked Lauren’s red Kate Spade dress, you might also like Nikki’s handmade red gown that she wore during her surprise proposal.
