We love stories. Every couple has one. One of our favorite parts about being wedding photographers is meeting with newly engaged couples for the first time and hearing theirs. The newness of it. The freshness of it. The excitement of it. We can’t get enough of it! But, at the end, our couples always ask, “What about you?” So, we decided to share our story, too. From the high school bleachers to the end of the aisle, here’s our story from “I noticed you” to “I do.”

Part 12: Our Wedding Day

It didn’t work. Amy’s plan to steal Jordan’s heart with a retainer case failed. Freshman English ended, and the next three years passed in a blur of her dance performances and his soccer games, until they hit their senior year. Fate sat them together again, this time in a romantic foreign language class: calculus. You + Me = Us. Right?

For both of them, they had a feeling that they’d be better in class (and life) together rather than alone.

Wrong. Calculus may not technically be a foreign language, but it seemed like one to them. They both needed tutoring just to survive, and with her competitive dance schedule, and his soccer one, it meant late night study sessions with a mutual friend, who also happened to be a calculus genius. Practice was over for the night, and it was time for tutoring to begin. Jordan threw his soccer bag down and got settled in with his homework, when all of a sudden, there was a knock on the door.

He looked up to see Amy, who walked through the door with a bag of fast food in her hand and her hair pulled back in a perfect ballerina bun. Jordan doesn’t remember much about that bun, but the skin-tight black leotard and pink tights she was wearing made him thank his lucky stars that he had signed up for calculus. They didn’t know they’d be seeking help from the same person at the same time that night, but they exchanged more glances than correct answers, and calculus started to feel more like chemistry.

When it came time for class, Amy, who is an over-achiever and a rule-follower at heart, focused on the whiteboard. Jordan focused on Amy’s skirts personality. He couldn’t talk his way out of math problems, so he focused on the new equation he wanted to solve: her. So, with the smoothness of a high school boy, he sent her a sin that he was interested, and passed her a note on a Pink Pearl eraser. She didn’t understand much about calculus, so that eraser didn’t last long, but the notes still got passed back and forth – a lot. For her, he was funny and made her laugh. For him, she was too nice to be that beautiful. For both of them, they had a feeling that they’d be better in class (and life) together rather than alone.

It was the beginning of something. The expression was set up. And the solution was only a few steps away…

Awesome! Will there be a part 3? Dying to know the rest! When did you guys get married?

Beautifully written story, Jord. Too much testosterone to not know it's your voice this time...
