They say rain on your wedding day is good luck, which makes me think Amanda and Ryan should probably change their last name to Luck. I had the honor of shooting Ryan and Amanda’s wedding with the always amazing Sam McConkey, and all day, we kept a close eye on the sky. As Amanda rolled up to the ceremony in style sitting atop her dad’s vintage Thunderbird, the clouds rolled above our heads as if to say, we’ll wait…but not for long. Red rose petals lined the aisle. A nervous groom stood waiting for his absolutely gorgeous bride. The clouds were the final accessory for their beautiful, emotional ceremony. And just as they shared their first kiss as husband and wife, the weather gods poured down the luck! Their guests cheered, wiped tears from their eyes and made a mad dash to the warm, dry reception area to enjoy cocktails. Amanda and Ryan, however, fearless and awesome as they are, braved the fierce cold and rain for some photos, and I just love the shots we got. You’ll notice a few images of their “rain faces,” which we solicited because we knew it would be the only proof that it was miserably cold and wet outside! They were so sweet, and so in love, you would have no idea that behind the scenes Amanda’s teeth were involuntarily chattering, and my fingers were so numb I could barely trigger my camera. We quickly decided to head indoors, and the rest of the night was filled with nothing but love, warmth and a whole lot of fun. Mr. and Mrs. Luck, I would wish you the best, but I think that has already been taken care of.
